Give A Kid A Coat is an annual program that solicits coat donations from area residents to donate to needy children and adults throughout the area. The campaign collects, cleans, and distributes approximately 25,000 coats per year and since its inception in 1987, the campaign has collected, cleaned, and distributed over 600,000 coats.

Anyone wishing to contribute to the 2009 Give A Kid A Coat campaign may do so by dropping off a coat at any A Cleaner World location beginning Friday, October 23, 2009 through Saturday, November 28, 2009. Coats will be cleaned and repaired free of charge, then given to The Salvation Army for distribution. Distribution dates and times vary by city. Please check with your local Salvation Army office for specific distribution information.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHALLENGE

  • A fun way to get your school involved with this year’s Give A Kid A Coat campaign.
  • The Elementary School Challenge portion of Give A Kid A Coat begins October 23 and ends October 30.
  • Schools that want to participate in the Elementary School Challenge should encourage parents and students to check their closets for coats to donate and ask parents to drop coats off from October 23 to October 30 individually at any A Cleaner World location.
  • We ask that schools not collect coats on site and then drop them off in bulk.
  • Individuals wishing to receive credit for the Elementary School Drive should tell the CSR at drop off the name of their school.  We will keep track of the points.
  • One coat equals one point.  A maximum of 10 tally points will be awarded per drop off.
  • We will add up the points on Monday, November 2.  The schools with the three highest counts will each be awarded a prize.
  • Winners will be announced on Tuesday, November 3 on both the Fox 8 Morning News and 1075KZL’s Murphy in the Morning Show.
  • A Cleaner World will contact the winners following the announcement.
  • Prizes will be awarded as follows:  first place $750, second place $500, and third place $250.
  • All prizes will be made payable to the winning school’s PTA.
