Over the years, The Real World Program for youth has been successful in helping young people develop life skills, including carving out educational and career plans, learning the basics of getting and keeping a job, and locating appropriate housing, but mostly, it has introduced youth to the variety of options that are available to young people. These youth quickly learn it can be a real jungle out there!
Credits, debits, assets, liabilities, debt ratio—
Welcome to the Jungle!
Real World presents Money Jungle  is a  1 hour simulation of the real world. In hourly increments, youth will learn to write a check, maintain a register, use an ATM, apply for a loan, request a credit report, and more. The event will address decisions youth make in  lifestyle choices (such as housing, transportation, leisure, etc.). Youth will be provided a salary  and challenged to take their salary and develop a budget based on every day needs (food, electricity, rent, etc.).

At 5:18 you will see a testimonial from one of our youth that went through the simulation.

60th Birthday Celebration for Joyner Elementary School

The Joyner Elementary School PTA needs your help!!

Joyner is a small, tight-knit school, located near Lawndale Ave. and Pisgah Church Rd. It’s filled with a great faculty, a caring principal and eager kids, ready to learn!

Joyner is also a Title I school, which means 80% of our families live below the poverty level. As you can imagine, this hampers our ability to fundraise and impacts what we can offer our kids.

The PTA is hosting a 60th birthday celebration for Joyner on Saturday, June 4th. We are asking businesses in Joyner’s community to either give a monetary donation or to donate items we can sell at a silent auction. We hope to raise enough funds to refurbish our track and field area, which is in desperate need of repair.

Any donation will be tax deductible and would be so helpful to Joyner and the children there!

These kids deserve our very best and we hope you can help us. Also, please join us at the celebration, as there will be food trucks, fun and a great performance by the kids!

Thank you so much for your consideration and please feel free to contact us at jamesyjoynerpta@gmail.com or contact Principal Denise Ebbs at 336-545-2020 with any questions.

Emerie Hilton was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in February of last year.  Type 1 diabetes requires constant monitoring of blood sugars because high or low numbers can be life threatening. Since Emerie is so young, the Hilton family is trying to acquire a diabetic service dog that is trained to alert on highs and lows.

Partnering with Service Dogs by Warren Retrievers, the Hilton family is working towards their fundraising goal of $25,000. In an effort to help raise these funds, we are asking for the support of local businesses and civic organizations to help us raise the funds to cover the cost of Emerie Hilton’s service dog.

Please help support our fundraising efforts. Until there’s a cure, there’s a dog.

Thank you for all of your support!
