Over the years, The Real World Program for youth has been successful in helping young people develop life skills, including carving out educational and career plans, learning the basics of getting and keeping a job, and locating appropriate housing, but mostly, it has introduced youth to the variety of options that are available to young people. These youth quickly learn it can be a real jungle out there!
Credits, debits, assets, liabilities, debt ratio—
Welcome to the Jungle!
Real World presents Money Jungle is a 1 hour simulation of the real world. In hourly increments, youth will learn to write a check, maintain a register, use an ATM, apply for a loan, request a credit report, and more. The event will address decisions youth make in lifestyle choices (such as housing, transportation, leisure, etc.). Youth will be provided a salary and challenged to take their salary and develop a budget based on every day needs (food, electricity, rent, etc.).
At 5:18 you will see a testimonial from one of our youth that went through the simulation.
