CBCC's Pints for Pounds

The Community Blood Center of the Carolinas (CBCC) is hosting its Sixth Annual ‘Pints for Pounds’ campaign through the end of February. For every blood donation made during that time, CBCC will donate seven pounds of food to Second Harvest Food Bank.

Since the ‘Pints for Pounds’ campaign began in 2009, CBCC has been able to contribute 231,384 pounds of food to help feed the hungry in our community.

“Supporting the vital work of Second Harvest Food Bank and giving back to the community is important to our vision,” said Martin Grable, president and CEO of CBCC. “Not only are you saving lives when donating blood, but you are feeding those in need throughout our community. We encourage the public to help us make every pint count by giving life-saving blood today.”

For businesses, civic organizations and churches interested in hosting a blood drive with CBCC, call Kim Jones, director of sponsorship development, at 704-972-4727. Those interested in donating blood can do so at a community blood drive or at one of CBCC’s donor centers in Charlotte, Concord, Gastonia, Greensboro or Hickory. To sign up, visit www.cbcc.us or call 704-972-4700.

St. Baldrick's Event

My family and I are holding a St. Baldrick's event on March 28th and we would love for you to be part of this event. St. Baldrick's is the largest non-profit for childhood cancer research.  There is a local station in FL that covers the event in which a  anchor shaves his head.  Not only would this bring attention to the foundation, but would also be great publicity for you and any anchor that will "brave the shave!"  Please see the link below and feel free to contact me if I can provide any more information.

Members of the club will teach the importance of these measures through fun presentations to students of selected Guilford County schools.

We need your help in leading the effort to collect safety gear for the children. This will give them an opportunity to apply the cautious behavior while participating in fun activities like skateboarding, bike riding etc. CLICK HERE for details on how to donate.
